Capstone Update #5

Image
I've spent around 3-4 hours a day working on the game trying to get as much progress done as I can before the deadline. I fully plan for this to be my greatest work yet and set the bar for how much work I can get done. So far I have almost completed the building aspect of the game and the editing process is beginning. With a deadline April 16th I can crunch more time into it and focus my time solely on this. Screenshot of one of the areas in the game that will explore the background of the main character Ashur Miller deeper. The backstory of Ashur Miller will be greatly improved on and you'll get to see why he's here in this house and why he's seeing all these things. The editing process so far, trying my best to fit in ambience nicely with the video. I will be spending most of my days editing it and put up finishing touches.

Update Post #4

I've almost finished the storyboard for the project and worked on the game a little bit more, I'm not happy with certain areas and will continue to work on improving the area and aesthetic so it fits more. I'm very excited about this project so I'm trying to make it my best work yet, so far I've researched on how to add certain things that require scripting such as opening door and teleporting players to a different area. This video shows on how to make an opening door and I will most likely use it in my game.

Once again I've been working on a new area of the building that the game is to be set in and been planning audio dialogue I want to have into the game, me and some of my friends are going to help me record dialogue for the game so when I show off the video presentation there'll be some story that you get to hear and understand. I've been researching music and what type I should put in and mostly been researching Silent Hill which is a very popular franchise by Konami that this game is inspired off. Silent Hill's music gives a new ambience and would work very well with my game. This song in particular is a very nice addition if it was in my game. As of a result I've gone full ahead on planning out the story to the game and what the meaning behind of it is. I expect a full story to be created within the week or so and the environment to be finished in a month or two.

Update Post #2

With the story all laid out, I worked a bit on concepts for the game and the title of it. Although this isn't a game that people can play, mostly my presentation will be a video that I show to the people reviewing my work. And with that I'll reveal my concept photo/title card for the game. This game may not seem like much to others but to me it is a big deal, I love horror games and they definitely have some interesting lore (story) to them and deals with many things that happen psychologically to someone if they were going through this type of situation. My ideas for this concept video is to show a man going through constant guilt, reminding him every day of what he did and for what he did I'm not able to say. Game-wise this is what I have so far, I've added footsteps to the game which whenever you walk, a wood sfx plays and you hear footsteps on like wooden planks which is interesting. The game is also in first-person which I was able to do quite easily fiddling arou...

What I did these two days was work on the interior and work on the story I have set up for the project, be warned the project will include blood so I advise if you are squeamish against that sort of stuff I apologize. Here is a first look at the project, take notes of the painting and radio on the dresser, these will play key points in the story when I am finished. I have also written a synopsis that I will release in the second update post, so far progress is going really good for the game.
